Progress Pics: 50 lbs down, so many more things to look forward to every day

Hey guys, I decided to procrastinate my homework by putting together some progress pics today. This is me a year and a half ago and this is me now. Got into a depressive slump after college, stopped exercising, drank a shit ton of beer, and once I started making enough money to splurge on food, man did I go for it. This picture is from March 17, 2017 and my first MFP entry is March 21, 2017, so I'm pretty sure seeing it led directly to my kicking my ass into gear. I think like many of us here, I had no idea how big I had actually gotten until I saw a pic of myself.

I got here by CICO, exercise, and drinking a lot less beer. I also mostly cut dairy from my diet, which I think was mostly helpful because my binge-food weakness is pretty much anything with cheese. Vegetables are also more satiating. I can't overstate how much biking has improved not just my physical health but my mental health and self-confidence as well. I was so heavy and out of shape when I started, and I can't believe how much I gritted my teeth and got through it when it was that hard. It really is the gift that keeps on giving too--I do more or less the same commute that I did back then, and sometimes I'll get to work and be like "Holy shit, you didn't stop once today. You used to have to stop three times." Actually setting out and accomplishing something hard encouraged me to do other hard things in my life, like finally going to therapy to confront some unresolved childhood trauma and going to grad school. Like exercise, these things are difficult at first but so rewarding.

One more plug for bike riding: Its the closest you can get to swimming or flying without actually swimming or flying. That being said, don't be a jackass and get a helmet and lights! Thank yall for reading
