I'm currently teaching an 8am college course. On my commute in this morning I was downing my coffee as fast as possible so I would caffeinated enough to explain statistics to a room full of tired freshman. But cold fingers and all that pesky driving made me drop my coffee mug and spill it all over slacks. I'm uncomfortably warm and wet, but 'no problem' I think to myself, I'm always one to be prepared and I keep a spare pair of slacks in my office for just such a situation. I continue to drive into work mopping up as best I can with a handkerchief, park and slink into my office as quickly as I can, hoping nobody notices me. I make it to my office unseen and pull out my spare slacks and then -only then- do I realize with horror that I haven't replaced my spare slacks since I began loosing weight. So, I pulled on my 38" waist pants tried to keep them from falling off while I got my belt on and cinched them up to my now 33" waist. I tried to to push the bunched up fabric around myself roughly evenly and went off to teach my class. I know I looked a bit frumpy (ok, to be honest I always look a bit frumpy, today I looked a lot frumpy!), but it was better than teaching it soaking wet slacks. Also it was a huge morale boost to be reminded of how far I've come since May. Loosing weight is a slow process and it really is important to look back at day 1 now and then to recognize how much we've achieved. Also, those of you with spare slacks hanging in your office, remember to replace them with ones that fit!
