Hi r/loseit. This might be a little tangential but I hope it's alright to talk about.
Someone I know is trying to lose weight. Let's call them Person A. They aren't ready to do anything like CICO or keeping a food log. They are trying to eat intuitively/reduce their portions and use slim fast to replace breakfast.
A mutual acquaintance of ours (Person B) was making fun of them for being fat while using slim fast. But Person A literally just got started! Of course they're still going to be fat! I lost my cool after listening to their exchange and called Person B an insecure jerk who was projecting their issues on Person A (Person B is also fat). Reflecting, this was NOT the best thing to do or say in that situation. I don't regret it (Person B is generally a jerk about a lot of things and I'm not afraid to admit I'm a punk myself) but I could've done better. We work together so saying "Hey, Person A, let's pretend Person B doesn't exist anymore" isn't an option.
What's a better thing to say in this kind of situation? I can't don't want to just keep my mouth shut.
