Do you have a style of clothes that you prefer/want to be but don't yet because you're "not skinny"?

For me, my style is pretty much 1950s housewife, or even just like really put together beautiful styles like what you'd see carefully curated on Gossip Girl, 90210, Hart of Dixie, etc. Basically, I love really really beautiful clothes that pretty much only look good on people who are a size 1-2. I do also love jeans and tanks with heels, etc (and I do wear this a lot) but I really want a very curated wardrobe but I don't want to buy pieces yet because:

  1. I don't have the confidence yet. I'm not where I want to be, and I don't want bulges sticking out. I know for 1950s dresses you can get them fitted to any size, but they just wouldn't be this idealism that's set in my head.

  2. Cost. I don't want to sink a cost into clothes that I'll outgrow. I plan to have some dresses custom made when I'm down to the size I want to be, but that's a lot of manhours, material etc to sink into them.

  3. I have this idea in my head of being thin to be beautiful that I can't get rid of, and I know it's damaging, but as a teenager I spent a lot of time watching the CW and flipping through Vogue.

I know a lot of this is due to cultural values, mental health (my own perception of myself, etc) but I don't know... I don't see myself wearing the styles I truly want until I get down to a size I'm more confident in. I still wear nice pieces and dress up (I actually receive compliments from strangers), but I just don't know when enough will be enough and I'll finally let my true style shine!
